I have a friend who is now in another line of business. However, she used to be a baker. She went to an interview with a local baker. She was asked to sign a contract stating she would not bake a cake to sell on her own for seven (7) years. She lives in a small town and had existing clients before coming to this interview.

If the terms of a contract seem unfair, they may be unenforceable. Seek the advice of an attorney prior to entering into any type of contractual or business relationship.

Whether you are a business owner, or you are seeking to do business with another person, or, you need a contract for clients of your own – protect yourself and hire an attorney to review it draft the contract for you.
